Let Forever Be Exhibition
Throughout the ages visual art has been influenced by music, and vice versa. The group of artists in our Let Forever Be exhibit have found inspiration in song lyrics, musical performances (both live and recorded), and even the packaging of bands/musicians – expressing many harmonies between art and music.
CMU Senior Art Exhibit 2024
Our final exhibition of the season, the School of Art BFA and Interdisciplinary Art Degree senior show, fills all three floors of the gallery. Students present final artworks and research as the culmination of their undergraduate experience.

Visit The Old Allegheny County Jail and Museum
PHLF docents are on hand to tell you the story of the former Allegheny County Jail. Completed in 1886 to the designs of Boston architect H. H. Richardson, it closed on July 27, 1995. The building was then renovated between 1995 and 2001 and adapted for a new use as the Family Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.

Washington's Cherry Bounce
Among the few recipes known to have been used by the Washington family is this one for Cherry Bounce, a brandy-based drink popular in the eighteenth century. It seems to have been such a favorite of General Washington's that he packed a "Canteen" of it, along with Madeira and port, for a trip west across the Allegheny Mountains in September 1784.

Flight 93 National Memorial Tour
On September 24, 2002, little more than a year after a United Airlines plane was hijacked by terrorists and crashed into a field in Somerset County, PA, the U.S. Congress passed an act establishing a memorial at the crash site, designating it the final resting place of the flight’s passengers and crew.

LEGO® Engineering Camp
Join us for a week of LEGO® themed engineering challenges! Explore the world of engineering and the forces of physics, then compete to build the tallest towers and longest bridges. Design a paper airplane launcher, construct a working claw, and race rubber band-powered cars and wind-powered boats. Finish the week off by constructing a giant chain reaction contraption.

Take a captivating journey into the past and discover what life was like in the 1800s and early 1900s! Spend the week immersed in the traditions of old, from playing timeless children’s games to creating vintage toys. Investigate historic foods and recipes, then explore the groundbreaking inventions and technology, like the steam engine and electricity, that paved the way for the world we know today.

The Whiskey Smash
Sample and purchase whiskeys from your favorite Pennsylvania distilleries! We are featuring distillers from across Pennsylvania who are carrying on the tradition of whiskey distilling. Enjoy great food, live music, and a silent auction. The Whiskey Smash is named for the Whiskey Smash cocktail, which you can enjoy at the event.

Wayne's Fourth Sub-Legion Drill Day
Come to Woodville for a unique experience of 18th century military camp life. Join the soldiers of Wayne's Fourth Sub-Legion, the first Army of the United States, as they set up camp and practice the Von Steuben military drill manual of 1794. Other activities include an encampment, musket firing demonstration, military music, and camp cooking demonstrations.

Artist Talk: “Story of the Blissfield General Store and the Pure Bliss Advertising Campaign” work by Ron Copeland
In the Story of the Blissfield General Store and the Pure Bliss Advertising Campaign, Ron Copeland explores his great-grandfather W.W. Moore’s history of owning the local general store in a small farming town named Blissfield. The town sprung up in the 1890s when the Pennsylvania Railroad extended a commuter and freight line through the sleepy Ohio Valley.

Welcome to the monthly game day for the Soldiers & Sailors Tabletop Gamers! We welcome interested gamers ages 10 and up of all experience levels (including none) who want to bring or just play historical board games and miniatures war games, in keeping with the museums mission. Game days will require you to pay standard museum admission.

Seven Years’ War Symposium
Four outstanding presentations focused on the French and Indian War and The Seven Years’ War (three in person one via zoom) will be presented during Fort Ligonier’s Seven Years’ War Symposium at the Fort Ligonier Center for History Education.
